Key Responsibilities
The Medical Laboratory Assistant/ Laboratory Aid is responsible for making appointments for patient, enter their data in System, billing to ministry, collect specimens from patient with proper identification, arrange for specimens transportation to laboratory, perform some point of care testing. Additionally, the role involves calling and faxing to lab and calling patients to book appointment after receiving results from Laboratory. Identify any potential problems with orders and specimens. Organize and package specimens for transport to Laboratory. Record all non-conformances. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Carry out inventory management and miscellaneous maintenance functions. Perform other duties, as trained and assigned.
Qualifications
• Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant college program or minimum grade 12th with two years of experience in Laboratory.
• Preference will be given to have more than 3 years of experience working in a laboratory or Medical Clinic environment.
• Prior experience in customer service (preferred).
• Prior experience drawing blood (preferred).
• Prior experience in specimen management (preferred).
• Data entry background or prior experience (required).
Skills and Competencies
• Proficient computer skills, including use of the Microsoft Office Suite with computer background will be preferred.
• Good English language skills (written and spoken) (required).
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy (required).
• Strong service orientation (required).
• Good interpersonal skills (required).
• Reliability and punctuality (required).
